Jellyfish Sting in Datça
Hello, I have come across your website, yayakarsa.org, and seen your tracking efforts after a jellyfish sting and a quick search on the internet.
I’ve been stung by a jellyfish on the 08th of September 2014 while I was swimming at the Datça Palamutbükü Bay. My wife had suffered a similar fate 2 years ago, at the same location. We haven’t been able to observe the species but we suspect Pelagia noctiluca since it seems so small on the poster. While swimming with a mask, I think I’ve seen what looked to be its arms, growing 10 to 15 cm below.
It was a 5-6 days’ vacation and I haven’t heard or seen anyone else experiencing the same thing but 2 years ago, 3 or 4 people had the same complaint. I’m sending you a photograph of my injured arm hoping you’d be able to name the culprit from the welts. 🙂
